FREE listing in the Midwife Directory! That’s right, “FREE!” As of this date in March 2008, all listings in our Midwife Directory will be made available free of charge (a $20 value), and good for one year. Of course, this applies to all midwife members of birthingwithmidwives.com.
“Why,” you may well ask, “are you making this service available free of charge? You have expenses, don’t you?” Well, yes, of course we do. Securing the domain name, paying for the ISP, etc. does cost. And then of course the time put into this endeavor, both in terms of design and content, is quite time consuming, and my time and that of my copywriter (a.k.a., my husband) is worth something. So receiving financial remuneration or assistance for this project would be helpful, and would definitely be welcome. So if you wish to contribute, just enter the amount you wish to contribute on the menu to your left. Any help will be greatly appreciated. But of course, there is no obligation, and this current offer stands. So again the question is “Why free?” The reasons revolve around the kind of service we want to provide. We want our website to meet the needs of consumers across the country. Obviously, then, if we do not have a comprehensive directory, we cannot achieve that goal. On the other hand, if our directory includes a good representation of midwives, then consumers will have more confidence in this resource for finding a midwife. We see this as a win-win situation; both consumers and midwives will be benefited by a comprehensive directory on our site. I hope that you took note of the fact that this offer is free “for a limited time.” I’m not sure at this point how long this offer will be extended; that will depend to a large extent on the response to this promotion. So this offer could be good for the remainder of this month and throughout the month of April, 2008, or it could be extended as needed. You must be a registered member of the BirthingWithMidwives website to submit a listing. So, please sign in if you are already a member, or register first if you are not. If you already have a listing in our directory, you do not need resubmit your listing. When your time is up, your listing will be renewed for free. Please allow approximately 24 hours for submissions to be approved by the administrator. But remember that the administrator is also a midwife. So if she is delivering a baby it may take a little longer than 24 hours. I would also like to remind everyone that every registered member of the BirthingWithMidwives website may also submit articles and stories to our website. We need your articles and stories. So please contribute to our site and help us keep BirthingWithMidwives interesting so more people will want to come back to see what is new. Follow the links on the menu to add an entry to the Midwife Directory now! Just look to your left under the heading "Looking for a Midwfe?" I have been doing midwifery for about 20 years & work mostly in NW Arkansas, but can travel to nearby states as well. I have a water birth tub that I can rent out.
